The initiative belonged to the founder and CEO of the international Global Israeli Initiative platform, Alona Novohorodska. She used her previous experience in holding large-scale conferences to promote Ukraine around the world, including in the United States (UTGem, Startup Addventure) and Kazakhstan (TechConnect), to create a new Ukrainian-Israeli platform, and became its leader and executive producer.
At the stage of the first agreements with speakers and partners, the initiative was joined and actively supported by Dmytro Yeromin — the UNIT.City leading partner at that time. As a result, the Summit got a co-founder and co-producer, while the largest innovation park in Eastern Europe became one of the main partners.
The idea of the Summit as a business and technological bridge between Ukraine and Israel was supported by representatives of both business and government. In 4 years, the project has become the main official platform for negotiations, reports, new partnerships between the two countries.
The UIIS was launched in 2018 as a purely technological event. In 2019, it grew into a large-scale Week of Israeli Innovation in Ukraine, and today it goes beyond the hi-tech area thanks to new thematic blocks, including economic, political and educational ones.
